We’re Changing the World of Big Data

We are a group of passionate technologists that have built highly successful hardware-software co-designed products and are now tackling complex challenges in an exciting and growing market. Analytics solutions for the next decade require groundbreaking innovations in the entire stack of data processing, from query optimizer to distributed data layer to accelerated compute engine.

Gone are the days of siloed software and hardware engineers. Instead, this is the era of Domain Engineers. We’re a team of engineers from Apple, Oracle, Teradata, Facebook, AWS, Yahoo, Cavium, Fungible, etc.

Rajan has always been a champion of an idea and has successfully driven multiple products from inception to multi-billion $ revenue. Before founding DataPelago, Rajan served as the CTO of Fungible for five years. Rajan built an elite engineering organization that pioneered hardware-software co-design and contributed to the architecture of DPU, a de facto third computing socket in the data centers alongside CPU & GPU. Before Fungible, he led the architecture team in Cavium’s CTO department as Distinguished Engineer, where he helped define domain specific accelerators for Cavium’s flagship OCTEON family of multi-core processors. Rajan’s experience includes leadership and management roles at Cisco & Oracle, with a strong background in networking and data systems. Rajan is a prolific innovator with 150+ patents issued and pending. Rajan received a Bachelors’s in Mechanical Engineering from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, India, and a Master’s in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Anand Iyer

Co-Founder & CPO

Anand enjoys living at the intersection of complex technologies and new product/business creation. His career began as a CPU designer working on StrongARM and Alpha microprocessors in a small Palo Alto team put together by the legendary Dan Dobberpuhl. Anand then became part of the early team of Cavium, a startup that delivered groundbreaking multi-core processors. Inspired by the founders that carefully navigated Cavium through the post-dot-com recession, he moved to a business role at Cavium sharing responsibility for creating the successful Octeon Fusion product family. After a short year at Tensilica, Anand spent five years at Broadcom responsible for driving new product creation for cloud and 5G markets as an internal entrepreneur with ARM server CPU and millimeter-wave technologies as foundations. Finally, at Samsung, and in partnership with cloud and CPU giants, he created exciting near-data memory and storage accelerator products. Anand holds an MS from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Babson College.
